Under what conditions might I require a personal migration?

If you require any additional changes outside of the standard or customer specific setup these will need to be performed as part of a personal migration. This may include 3rd party program installation and configuration, local file transfer or specific configuration changes. What is involved in the personal migration process?

  • Installation and configuration of personal software applications and printers
  • Migration of personal settings to new machine, where possible
  • Migration of personal data to new machine

How long will the migration process take?

This will depend on the number and type of items that are being copied from your current workstation. We normally estimate the time taken at 4 hours.

Why does the personalised migration have to be carried out on site?

The Personalised Migration is complex. Being able to transfer files and settings locally will ensure that the work can be carried out faster and with more precision.

Do I have to be present while my data is being copied across?

As explained above, a personalised setup is complex and we need to make sure that it is done correctly. We will need to check the details with you while we are preparing the workstation for you and get you to sign it off when we have finished.

Will my new computer look and feel like my old one?

This may not always be possible, particularly if moving between operating system versions. Ziptech will endeavor to make the new computer function as similarly to the previous computer as possible.
