How To Reset Your Windows Login Password
This article is intended for use by customers of Ziptech Services Ltd.
Ziptech has enabled Self Service Password Reset for your organization, empowering you to reset your Windows login and Microsoft password anytime using your registered authentication methods. This convenient feature saves you time and allows you to quickly get back to work without needing assistance from IT.
To reset your password:
- Go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com. Once you're on the page, simply enter your email address and input the characters shown in the image below and hit next.
You can also try CTRL+ALT+DELETE on your keyboard and select Change a password however this might not work if your device is not joined in the company network or you are using a personal computer for work. You can also reset your device using the aforementioned URL from a browser on your phone as well.
The below steps also apply if you're using a Mac. However if you use your work email and password to actually sign-in to your work mac, please click here to see the KB for steps to take in such a scenario.

- On the next screen, you will be asked the following:
- I've forgotten my password - Select this option if you've forgotten your password.
- I know my password, but still can't sign in - Choose this option if you are positive that you remember your password. You can't sign in because you have typed your password incorrectly too many times.
For this instance, choose "I've forgotten my password" and hit next.
3. Next, you'll be prompted to verify your identity. This step ensures that it's truly you resetting your password. In your organization, you'll only need to verify once. Simply select the available verification method provided. Please take note of the following:
If you've set up your mobile number for multifactor authentication, you'll need to enter your number first, including the country code, before receiving the code. You can choose to receive the one-time passcode either through a text message or a phone call.
If you have the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone, you can choose to receive a notification in the app, where you'll be asked to enter the number displayed on the screen. Alternatively, you can use the 6-digit passcode generated within the app.
4. Once your identity is verified, you can create a new password. Be sure to choose a unique password that meets the recommended security standards but still easily remembered.
- After resetting your password, you can now log back into Microsoft 365 or your laptop and desktop. If you are still not able to login, please contact Ziptech.
